Why do families choose private Kindergarten as opposed to public Kindergarten?
Teachers at small beginnings are expected to tailor their teaching to each student, not to a class average. If a child is accelerating faster than the class, more advanced work will be prepared to challenge his or her as the need arises. If a child needs more help, the help will be one-on-one until the child has mastered each step of his / her learning. We realize that each child learns on his / her own time line; we respect that fact and teach accordingly.
Self-discipline is the backbone of learning and our children are taught the responsibility of choices: good choices bring praise and poor choices must be discussed so they are not repeated. We do choose our children so the families are sully supportive of the teachers and the program.
Studies show that children are more self-confident and learn better in an environment where everyone knows them by name. Our children are greeted daily by all of the staff and everyone makes an effort to stop children to visit with them. Self-confidence abounds in our children!
Time is not wasted at the beginning of the year because our children continue on the same time line that they were on in preschool. The methods are familiar and the children know all routines and teachers. The teacher and the children do not spend the first six weeks learning routine and skill levels. Our program is just another step in a method that is familiar to the children.
Our outcome goals are set at a higher level than the public schools because our children have already accomplished many of the objectives in public Kindergarten. Since we have an all-day program with no preschool children in the class (as in the multi-age classes in Blue Valley ), we are able to offer a wide curriculum to meet advanced students.
